I recently purchased this unit from Amazon for my laptop. Frankly, the price was an important factor in my decision. The device is very small, very lightweight and works well. And 'power from a USB port (USB port is the data and power cable are included with the device), which is my only complaint. I use mine with a Dell Inspiron that is a few years old, runninf Windows XP and with only two USB ports. I use it as a primary desktop / laptop, so a hub-port USB extender was a necessity. UnfortunatelyCauses of DVD burners too much of a shock. Easy fix, though I just bought a power converter connected to USB and charger to power the device into the USB port of the converter / charger. Software CD supplied was not very helpful, and the programs included (Black et al are not) as quickly as new or new programs. Regardless of the burner works well, has an extremely small footprint and much cheaper price.
